Robert McCoy is the Operations Quality Assurance Manager at Crown Castle. He also manages Crown Castle’s SCAN program, which employs alternative technologies such as Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and laser surveying for data acquisition. Robert leads a team of Quality Assurance Engineers responsible for development of and compliance to operational and industry standards and procedures for internal employees, contractors, and vendors. Robert and his team train and audit groups responsible for over 45,000 annual inspections, ensuring the integrity of Crown Castle’s assets.
Robert serves on the National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE) UAS Committee, which has a strong voice in the vertical communications infrastructure industry. He is seeking to support the industry through proper understanding and application of this technology, as it exists today, and as it transforms the future.
Prior to starting at Crown Castle, Robert compiled a decade of engineering and climbing experience through construction, modifications, inspections, mappings, and audits. Robert regularly consults on industry panels including National Wireless Safety Alliance, TIA TR-14, the Wireless Industry Safety Task Force, and leads a TIRAP initiated committee on shunt-type tension meters for guy wires. He served as a CH-46 helicopter crew chief in the United States Marine Corps.
